Regarding the disqualification of the entry titled "Rukai Tribal Myth – Balhengey" by participant Huang in the 10th "Trending Taiwan Short Film Competition", the organizing committee declares the following:
According to Article 2, Section 3 of the competition rules:
Entries must be original works and must not have won awards in other public competitions or selection activities. Additionally, Article 11 clearly states:
The organizing committee has the right to review whether entries involve multiple submissions, adaptations, edits of previously awarded works, or intentional forgery. If verified, the organizing committee has the right to disqualify the participant and their related rights, and reserves the right to pursue legal action.
Upon review, it was found that Huang's entry "Rukai Tribal Myth – Balhenge" won the first prize in the animation category at the 11th MATA Awards organized by the Ministry of Education on October 25, 2024, and was publicly available on the Ministry's META Awards video platform (video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQe8dVHu2ec). This work is identical in content to the award-winning entry from the Ministry of Education's MATA Awards, and the timing of the award is close, which constitutes "multiple submissions," clearly violating the competition rules.
Therefore, based on the competition rules, the organizing committee disqualifies participant Huang from the competition and all related rights.
We emphasize again that this competition is committed to fairness and justice, encouraging creative works to participate in only one category, thus providing more rewarding space for original creators. We urge all participants to adhere strictly to the competition regulations to jointly maintain the integrity and fairness of the competition.
Thank you for the support and understanding from all sectors for the "National Trend Taiwan" event.
